Dr. Pianka is a Senior Attending at Phelps Memorial Hospital as well as Chief Emeritus of Hand Surgery at Lenox Hill Hospital in Manhattan. Dr. Pianka completed a certified fellowship in Hand Surgery at the Hospital for Joint Diseases Orthopedic Institute in New York City. Certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery, he also holds a Certificate of Added Qualifications in Surgery of the Hand. Dr. Pianka is an active member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, American Society for Surgery of Hand, and the New York Society for Surgery of the Hand.
In addition to research and publications, Dr. Pianka has taught orthopedic residents and other orthopedic surgeons minimally invasive techniques in an office setting for conditions such as trigger finger and Dupuytren’s Contracture. Some complex fractures of the hand, wrist, and elbow may require an overnight stay at the hospital.
