About Dr. Ricanor
Dr. Ricanor holds dual board certifications in interventional pain medicine and anesthesiology by the American Board of Anesthesiology. He believes in an individualized and holistic approach to the treatment of pain using the most up-to-date, minimally invasive, and evidence-based practices. His goal is to optimize the overall functionality of each patient and promote a return to a more productive and enjoyable lifestyle.
After graduating from medical school with high honors, Dr. Ricanor completed his preliminary internal medicine training at Griffin Hospital/Yale Affiliate in Derby, CT. He then proceeded with his anesthesiology residency training at SUNY Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, NY. He excelled as a well-rounded anesthesiologist in Northern New Jersey and New York City, before later returning to Syracuse to complete his ACGME-accredited training in Pain Medicine. Following the completion of his fellowship training, he served as the associate director of anesthesia at Brook Plaza Surgical Center, where he helped foster the highest quality of care and service. During his tenure, he developed policies to promote a safer patient perioperative experience and regularly engaged in educating staff members at the surgical center and off-site satellite offices.
Dr. Ricanor specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of various pain conditions, including headache, neck, back, joint, and post-surgical pain. He utilizes ultrasound and fluoroscopic-guided techniques to treat a wide array of acute and chronic pain syndromes. He practices with a patient-centered approach and tailors his treatment plan based on individual needs and goals. Dr. Ricanor stays up-to-date with the latest technologies and treatment modalities, including regenerative medicine. Dr. Ricanor is an active member of Spine Interventional Pain Society, North American Spine Society, American Society of Regional Anesthesia and Pain Medicine, North American Neuromodulation Society, New York State Pain Society, World Academy of Pain United, American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians, Regenerative Medicine Institute, American Society of Anesthesiology, and New York State Society of Anesthesiologists.
