Samuel Hoisington, MD, is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon at Hudson Valley Bone & Joint Surgeons, LLP in Yonkers and Hawthorne, New York, who specializes in upper and lower extremity fractures and foot and ankle surgery.
After completing his undergraduate studies at Harvard University, Dr. Hoisington attended Albany Medical College, where he received his medical degree in 1991. He completed his internship and orthopedic residency at Montefiore Medical Center and Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the Bronx. During his residency, he spent a great deal of time at Jacobi Medical Center, where he treated patients with severe injuries and complex fractures. This time doing trauma in the Bronx has led to special expertise with fractures of both the upper and lower extremities.
Following residency, he did an additional year of fellowship in Foot and Ankle Surgery at Allegheny University Medical Center in Philadelphia. For the past 18+ years, Dr. Hoisington has been part of Hudson Valley Bone & Joint Surgeons and an attending surgeon at Phelps Memorial Hospital Center. Dr. Hoisington is the Medical Director of the Phelps Memorial Hospital Wound Healing Institute.
Dr. Hoisington is adept at managing both simple and complex fractures and uses the latest minimally invasive techniques. Dr. Hoisington will often combine his skill with arthroscopy and fracture management when handling fractures involving the joints. The use of arthroscopy allows Dr. Hoisington to visualize the joint surface while aligning the fracture. He is also proficient in the latest techniques for rodding and plating of fractures.

He has a special interest in the management of sports-related foot and ankle injuries and is adept at ankle arthroscopy and tendon and ligament repair and reconstruction.
